Aaron B. Watkins

Class of 1967

Aaron B. Watkins, a native of Memphis, Tennessee and a graduate of Melrose High School enrolled at Tuskegee University in August 1963. He tried out for the baseball team his sophomore year and earned a position at second base. From this position Aaron earned letters for three years and was selected co-captain with his teammate Jeff Walker his senior year. During his senior year he was 3rd on the team in home runs, had 30 stolen bases and led the team in runs scored, hits and RBI's. His batting average was .323.

Majoring in Electronics with a minor in Business, Aaron made the Dean's list while becoming a Commissioned Officer in ROTC and completing the Army ROTC Flight Instruction Program under Chief Anderson. Aaron became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and held the office of Historian, while participating in local community service events in the Tuskegee area. In 1976 Aaron earned his MBA in business from the University of Detroit.

Aaron served five years in the United States Military as an army officer, completing his aviation training, receiving his wings, completed helicopter school, and was selected for advanced training with the Chinook Helicopter. Aaron served in Vietnam in the Central Highlands as a helicopter aircraft commander. Returning to the United States, he was sent to Germany as Commander of a computer company, received training in computers, and received his A.A.S. Degree in computers. After leaving the Military, Aaron was the Liaison Officer for West Point Academy and a civilian employee for General Motors Corporation in the start up of their computer operations, at their headquarters. Aaron was promoted to District Manager, where he excelled and won several District Manager of the year awards. He was promoted to Zone Business Manager, which included working with dealers and buying and selling dealerships. Aaron retired from General Motors in 2000.

Aaron is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he has been a Sunday School teacher and currently teaches the bible study class every Wednesday for the past seven years. He has worked with his sons on various sports events during their youth, volunteered for their Cub and Boy Scout events, as well as provided father support for 20 years with his family'S involvement with Jack & Jill of America, Inc. and its community service events. He has chaperoned college tours, is a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, and serves as their Treasurer and is a member of their speaking bureau program which has carried him to various military bases, colleges, high schools, and organizations telling the Tuskegee Airmen Story. Besides this, Aaron serves as the College Advisor at Ursinus College for the undergraduate Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

Currently Aaron Watkins resides in Phoenixville, PA with his wife Sandra, and he is the proud father of Aaron III, Aric, and Andre'.

About Hall of Fame

The Tuskegee University Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1974 under the leadership of Dr. Howard W. Davis, Director of Athletics and Chairman of Physical Education and Athletics at Tuskegee University.

Purpose of HOF

The Hall of Fame was organized to recognize and to pay tribute to former athletes and supporters of athletics for their exceptional athletic performance while at Tuskegee and/or their loyal dedicated support of athletics as well as their contributions and community service through their professional careers.

Nominations For Induction

Nominations for induction are accepted through out the year but must be submitted prior to January 1 of the induction year. Inductions are held during the fall of odd years.
